Second Nature

Our Artistic Director, Evie, was awarded DYCP funding in 2024 to add and embed new digital and multimedia skills into their practice as a Queer Neurodivergent self-producing performance artist to increase the accessibility, innovation and ambition of their work.

Since then, we received Arts Council funding (woooop), and our Outreach programme has been underway to find out what story we would like to tell:

This is what we have got so far :

In this dystopian world, when people die, some are selected to join ‘The Forest’ both virtually (their voice & mind) and physically (their DNA is distilled into seedlings), creating a living archive of the deceased. Set against a backdrop of government-enforced rewilding in a rural, working-class town, our protagonist, grieving her late Mother, is forced to make life-altering decisions. Supported by the audience—our “survivors”— she is faced with questions of immortality, eugenics, and what limits you can be pushed to in the wake of grief and loss.

We are now seeking a talented Writer to work with our young people’s focus group to develop their vision for a new online Choose Your Own Adventure experience, Second Nature, in partnership with The Broadway Cinema in Nottingham.

If you have a passion for climate change and climate justice, new immersive digital forms of storytelling, and empowering young people’s creative voices, this role might be for you!

Please visit our 'Work with us' page to find out how to apply!
